Forget Apps–Mixus Raises $2.6M to Bring an AI Command Center Right in Your Inbox
Mixus is the first AI business platform to combine human and artificial intelligence – unlocking the full power of generative AI and agents, without the downside risk.
Mixus, co-founded by Elliot Katz and Shai Magzimof, is betting big on a surprising interface for the next wave of AI agents: your email inbox. Backed by $2.6 million in pre-seed funding, the Stanford-born startup is building what it calls a frictionless agent platform—where humans stay in control, and AI works within the tools teams already use.
AI Agents That Play Well With Humans
The problem with today’s AI agents? They often hallucinate, lack context, and can’t collaborate with others. Mixus tackles those flaws by keeping humans in the loop—and letting users interact with agents directly from email or Slack. No new apps to learn, no complex setup.
“Where is every person in the workforce today? For the most part, they’re on email,” Katz told TechCrunch. “Because we can do this through email, we believe that’s a way we can democratize access [to agents].”
Users can spin up agents by sending instructions to agent@mixus.com, then direct them via chat or email. Agents can run multi-step tasks, integrate with tools like Gmail and Jira, and even collaborate across teams. Tag a coworker in chat or CC them in an email, and the agent loops them in—something most AI models today can’t handle.
Memory, Oversight, and Teamwork—Built In
Mixus agents can be configured with human oversight at key steps, ensuring compliance and reducing risk. During a demo for TechCrunch, the founders showed an agent that researched reporters, summarized findings, and paused for review before sending a final pitch.
Its shared memory feature, called “Spaces,” lets agents remember files, prompts, and team workflows across users—something even enterprise versions of ChatGPT and Claude haven’t nailed. As Magzimof put it: “Then all my agents, all my files, all the people can be in that very specific Space’s memory.”
Whether it’s drafting docs, scraping the web, or figuring out who owns a Jira ticket, Mixus agents are designed to act like tireless digital colleagues—not just tools.
