ChargerHelp Launches SmarterHelp to Train the Clean Energy Workforce of Tomorrow
ChargerHelp provides operations and maintenance services for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, ensuring high uptime and reliability.
ChargerHelp!, known for keeping electric vehicle charging stations up and running, just made a strategic move to formalize a longstanding dual mission. As of August 1, the company’s workforce training division has officially spun out into a standalone entity called SmarterHelp—with a broader goal of equipping the next generation of clean energy workers.
While ChargerHelp!, co-founded by Kameale Terry and Evette Ellis, has always operated on two tracks—maintenance contracts and workforce development—the split allows each arm to pursue its mission more fully. Terry will continue leading ChargerHelp! as it sharpens its focus on EV charging reliability and software, while SmarterHelp will now independently scale its training platform under the leadership of Kianna Scott, former SVP of Learning & Development.
“SmarterHelp allows them to grow independently, and we couldn’t be more excited to see where they go next,” Terry said in a statement to LA Business Journal.
Building Talent for a Broader Clean Tech Future
SmarterHelp’s inaugural offering—the EV Supply Equipment Reliability Technician Training Program—is already in use by workforce boards, school districts, and other training providers across the country. The curriculum focuses on practical skills for maintaining EV charging station software, addressing a growing need in the green jobs market.
But the vision doesn’t stop at EV infrastructure. SmarterHelp plans to develop programs for other sectors including smart-grid operations, micro-mobility, and sustainable infrastructure maintenance. It will also offer accessible training to youth and continuing ed students, focusing on non-degree pathways into the clean energy economy.
To bring that vision to life, the company plans to seek outside funding and expand partnerships with educational institutions and government agencies.
As the clean energy transition accelerates, SmarterHelp aims to make sure the workforce isn’t left behind.
