Vama Raises $2.4M (₹22 Cr) to Bridge the Gap Between Faith and Technology
VAMA is a one-stop virtual platform that provides easy access to an array of services for one’s religious/spiritual journey.
India’s spiritual tech wave continues to rise, and Vama is riding at the forefront. The devotional platform just closed a $2.4M (Rs 22 crore) funding round led by Wavemaker Partners, with backing from 500 Global, Sadev Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Silverneedle Ventures, and other angels. With this new round, Vama is now valued at ₹147 crore.
Launched in 2020 by co-founder Manu Jain, Vama has quickly scaled to 6 lakh monthly active users and a growing product suite that includes astrology services, virtual temple offerings, and soon: offline spiritual tourism.
From Digital Devotion to Real-World Pilgrimage
“We are seeing strong demand from people who say they want to visit temples and perform puja,” said Jain in an interview with Economic Times. To meet that demand, Vama is expanding into offline travel experiences—aiming to launch in at least two cities by the end of this year.
So far, the platform has partnered with 250+ temples and over 300 astrologers, and its growing “chadhava-as-a-service” (digital deity offerings) segment has become one of its strongest revenue drivers.
The team is also doubling down on original content that connects devotees to spiritual leaders in more interactive and immersive ways.
Strong Retention, Steady Growth
Vama doubled its revenue in FY25 to ₹20 crore and projects ₹50 crore in FY26, with profitability on the horizon by early FY27. Contribution margins are already in the double digits, thanks to consistent engagement and festive season boosts.
As the spiritual-tech category heats up—with players like AppsForBharat, DevDham, and Utsav also gaining traction—investors are betting big on platforms that can scale with integrity.
“Faith and spirituality are universal needs, and Vama.app has shown the ability to digitise this space with both integrity and scale,” said Vishal Harnal, managing partner at 500 Global.
