VAMA and the Rise of India’s $58.6B Spiritual Tech Revolution
VAMA is a one-stop virtual platform that provides easy access to an array of services for one’s religious/spiritual journey.
VAMA, the spiritual tech platform co-founded by third-generation astrologer Aacharya Dev and telecom veteran Manu Jain, is building a bridge between ancient rituals and modern digital life. From livestreamed pujas performed in centuries-old temples to virtual astrology consultations, VAMA has enabled more than 500,000 e-pujas and amassed over 2 million app downloads. With a network of 250+ temples and 300+ verified astrologers, it’s transforming how India—and the Indian diaspora—access sacred services online.
“The idea came when we wanted to merge my experience in astrology with modern technology,” said Aacharya Dev. “Creating a bridge between timeless wisdom and contemporary convenience.”
Redefining Sacred Access with Technology
The pandemic catalyzed VAMA’s early growth, pushing spiritual services into the digital era nearly overnight. Today, the platform offers an end-to-end spiritual ecosystem: from live darshans to astrology consultations and a marketplace for products like Hanuman Gadas. Its services mirror traditional offline practices while making them accessible to busy urbanites in Delhi or NRIs in New York seeking temple blessings from afar.
“People’s spiritual needs remain constant,” Dev noted, “but how they access them has changed.” VAMA capitalized on this shift, earning user trust through verified astrologers and partnerships with major temples. The team’s vetting process includes qualification checks, trial consultations, and ongoing user feedback to ensure authenticity and personalized care.
Balancing Tradition and Scalability
India’s spiritual services market hit $58.6B in 2024 and is projected to grow to $151.9B by 2034. Yet, most of it remains offline. That’s the gap VAMA is racing to close. With INR 28 Cr in funding from Wavemaker Partners, Huddle Ventures, and Lisa Gokongwei, the startup aims to double its astrologer and temple network in the next two quarters and expand to markets in Southeast Asia and the U.S.
What sets VAMA apart is its founder blend: Dev’s deep astrological roots paired with Jain’s business rigor. And while AI-ML hasn’t yet been integrated, the team is exploring how technology can enhance recommendation engines and spiritual insights without replacing the human touch. “Our biggest challenge is keeping the irreplaceable human connection in the digital space,” Dev explained.
Spirituality for the Next Generation
As Gen Z and millennial users seek more personal, flexible spiritual solutions, platforms like VAMA are poised to capture massive growth. The market includes digital pilgrimage services, spiritual e-commerce, educational media, and virtual rituals. By combining Vedic heritage with mobile-first design, VAMA is leading India’s spiritual digitization wave.
With a goal of doubling revenue in FY26 from INR 24 Cr, VAMA is betting that the next frontier of digital disruption won’t be finance or food—it will be faith.
