Twice Commerce Takes on Global Recommerce with AI and Multichannel Reach
Twice Commerce is a circular commerce platform that enables businesses to maximize the value of their inventory through rentals, subscriptions, resales, and trade-ins.
Helsinki-based Twice Commerce is setting its sights on global scale. Formerly known as Rentle, the company helps merchants resell and rent physical goods through a flexible technology platform. Now, it’s adding AI-powered multi-listing features that will allow clients to push inventory to major marketplaces like eBay—dramatically expanding reach and simplifying resale.
This push fits squarely into the booming trend of recommerce, the resale of pre-owned or gently used goods through digital platforms. As sustainability and circular economy models gain momentum, recommerce has become a smart business strategy for retailers looking to maximize product lifecycles and reduce waste.
AI Meets Marketplace Scale
The company’s latest update, set to roll out in Q4, will use AI to streamline listings across global marketplaces. According to CEO and founder Tuomo Laine, the goal is to “remove friction” for larger sellers by simplifying returns, automating listings, and making it easier to monetize resale inventory.
Laine, a member of the Unreasonable Fellowship—a community for impact-driven entrepreneurs—has long championed technology that enables circular commerce. He also hosts the Twice Commerce Recommerce podcast, where he explores innovations in the secondhand retail space.
From Rentals to Resale
Twice Commerce was originally built to support rental businesses, but over time, many customers began asking for resale capabilities. “Many of these firms eventually found themselves wanting to turn gently used rental items into resales,” Laine told the AIM Group.
Today, resale accounts for 50–70% of Twice Commerce’s business. Clients range from ski rental services like Rentski in Sweden to outdoor gear brand Rab in the UK, to Finnish car parts retailer Motonet. And while the company started in Europe, nearly half of its merchandise now comes from U.S. merchants.
What’s Next
With AI-driven multichannel listing tools on the horizon, Twice Commerce is positioning itself as an infrastructure layer for the growing recommerce economy. The redesign and feature expansion aim to make it easier than ever for merchants to participate in the circular economy—profitably and at scale.
