Welcome to Founders Everywhere, where we highlight the incredible people behind the companies we’ve backed at Everywhere Ventures, a global pre-seed fund supported by a community of 500 founders and operators.
Buying and selling stocks on public markets gives investors access to a constant stream of information about companies and their performance in real-time. In private markets, it’s quite the contrary: investors have to piece together that same kind of information from documents, spreadsheets, and updates shared by GPs. Tamarix is closing that gap in the private market with its flagship platform, Meridian, which automates data extraction from complex documents, reconciles account records to flag discrepancies, and lets teams use AI to analyze portfolio data and generate insights. Private markets teams can book a demo at tamarix.tech.
Founder and CEO Andrea Carnelli Dompe fell in love with financial theory, data and AI while studying for his BSc at Bocconi and his MSc and PhD at Imperial College London. He then spent years on the LP side of private markets before deciding to build Tamarix. As Head of Research at Pantheon Ventures, a private markets investor with $68 billion in assets under management (AUM), he saw firsthand how much value sits untapped in private markets data, and how outdated the infrastructure behind it still is. Putting his LP-side experience together with what AI was newly making possible, he realized the opportunity was too big to pass up, and Tamarix was born.
What’s Tamarix’s North Star?
To make private markets as transparent and as easy to monitor and manage as liquid markets. Investors in public markets take real-time, reliable data for granted. We think private markets investors deserve the same, and that it’s now finally within reach.
What sets Tamarix apart?
Most tools in our space digitize documents and leave the rest to the client. We focus on the harder part: turning every document into data a team can actually trust and use, from back office to front office. We’re AI-native and fully open via API, so Meridian plugs into whatever our clients already run. And we’ve chosen depth over breadth, serving a very specific type of investor - LPs - better than any horizontal tool can.
How does Tamarix inspire ‘customer love’?
Our clients spend a huge amount of time chasing, reading and re-keying fund data. When Meridian takes that off their plate, their teams get time back to do the work they actually hired for: analysis, decisions and relationships with their managers. We also stay very close to our users and ship improvements based on what they tell us, so they see the product evolving around their needs.
Tell us about a recent milestone that Tamarix crushed?
We now monitor over $10 billion of LP AUM through Meridian, which corresponds to roughly $500 billion of underlying GP AUM. That’s a scale we’re really proud of, and it’s a strong signal that the market is ready for a new approach.
How has your background influenced you as a founder?
As Head of Research at Pantheon, I sat on the buyer side of the exact problem we now solve. I know the LP workflow from the inside: which data matters, where it breaks, and what a team actually needs to trust a number. That shapes everything we build. We design for the people doing the work, because I was one of them.
Fun fact:
I’m an Italian who has thoroughly absorbed German culture. In winter you’ll find me taking cold dips in the Isar (Munich’s river) which no one back home in Italy considers a reasonable life choice. And when I got married, I did it in lederhosen. My Italian relatives are still processing both.
