PlantBaby Secures Seed Funding to Expand Clean-Label, Plant-Based Nutrition
PlantBaby develops a portfolio of organic, plant-based foods and beverages designed to support children's nutritional needs from infancy through childhood.
PlantBaby, the pioneering company redefining plant-based nutrition, has closed its Series Seed equity financing round, led by B2 Partners. This fresh capital will fuel expansion into retail, continued product innovation, and team growth, accelerating the company’s mission to create clean, nutritious, and sustainable options for families everywhere.
A Mission-Driven Investment in the Future of Nutrition
B2 Partners, known for backing companies that prioritize both health and sustainability, led the investment. Founder Matt Behrens shared why PlantBaby stood out: “PlantBaby represents the kind of forward-thinking, mission-driven company we look to support at B2 Partners. Their commitment to clean, plant-based nutrition solutions aligns perfectly with our belief in backing businesses that prioritize both health and sustainability.”
Additional investors include Big Idea Ventures, Everywhere Ventures, X Factor Ventures, Women’s Equity Lab Silicon Valley, and Babylist, further amplifying PlantBaby’s growth trajectory.
Founders Alex and Lauren Abelin started PlantBaby after the birth of their son, Alakai, frustrated by the lack of clean-label, dairy-free infant formulas. Today, their company is building a trusted brand for families, especially considering 50% of children experience chronic health conditions linked to diet and nutrition.
Expanding Access to Kiki Milk and Beyond
With this new funding, PlantBaby will expand distribution across major retailers including Sprouts, Wegmans, Amazon, and Thrive Market, while continuing to grow its direct-to-consumer presence through its Shopify-powered Kiki Milk website.
PlantBaby’s flagship product, Kiki Milk, launched in 2020 and has since grown into a category leader in plant-based nutrition. Unlike conventional plant milks, Kiki Milk is free from seed oils, gums, artificial flavors, and preservatives—using a blend of six whole food ingredients including sprouted pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and Aquamin™ for natural protein and calcium.
“Improving the health of future generations is our North Star as both parents and entrepreneurs,” said Alex and Lauren Abelin. “We’re committed to providing the cleanest, most nutritious, and delicious products—for your family and ours—because every child deserves the best.”
The Road Ahead
With this funding, PlantBaby will continue innovating in plant-based nutrition, developing new products beyond plant milk, and scaling its team to meet growing consumer demand. As more families seek clean, nutrient-rich alternatives, PlantBaby is set to lead the way in transforming childhood nutrition.
