Photon Teams Up with Amazon Pharmacy to Bring Real-Time Rx Access and Delivery Transparency to Patients
Photon Health modernizes pharmacy fulfillment by streamlining the prescription process, making medications more accessible and affordable.
In a major leap toward modernizing how prescriptions are filled, Photon Health is partnering with Amazon Pharmacy to give patients something that’s long been missing from pharmacy: real-time clarity.
The Brooklyn-based startup, known for building a transparent prescription marketplace, is now integrating Amazon Pharmacy’s live inventory and delivery estimates into its SMS and web-based experience. This means that after a prescription is sent via Photon, eligible patients can instantly see whether their medication is in stock at Amazon, get a clear delivery window, and check out with the ease of any Amazon order—often with same-day or 2-day delivery.
“This level of transparency should be standard for pharmacy,” said Otto Sipe, CEO and Co-Founder of Photon. “Amazon is leading the way in transparency here, and we’re psyched to be working with them.”
For patients, this changes everything. No more calling around or making unnecessary trips. If Amazon has the medication, it shows up in Photon’s system with an “In Stock” tag and an estimated delivery time. Patients then receive prescription updates and shipping confirmations directly from Amazon Pharmacy.
This collaboration solves a critical pain point in healthcare: the disconnect between prescription writing and prescription filling. By giving patients visibility into which pharmacies actually have their medication—and how fast it can arrive—Photon and Amazon are eliminating friction, delays, and frustration.
“We’re proud to be the first and only pharmacy offering Photon real-time inventory updates and delivery estimates,” said Tanvi Patel, VP and GM of Amazon Pharmacy. “Our shared vision is to ensure every patient has access to the reliable, convenient care they deserve.”
Photon’s platform has already routed over 1 million prescriptions and serves provider groups across primary care, weight loss, women’s health, and more. With this new partnership, it’s doubling down on its mission to make prescription access faster, more transparent, and more patient-driven.
As pharmacy deserts grow and local inventory becomes less reliable, this integration offers a model for what prescription access should look like: clear, fast, and centered around the patient.
