Operant AI Launches MCP Gateway to Secure the Next Layer of AI Infrastructure
Operant AI provides a comprehensive cloud-native application protection platform that offers real-time security, infrastructure, APIs, with automatic detection and blocking of threats.

Cybersecurity startup Operant AI is stepping into the spotlight with the launch of MCP Gateway, an enterprise-grade runtime security solution designed for AI workflows built on the fast-growing Model Context Protocol (MCP). As MCP adoption accelerates—with over 1,000 servers deployed globally—Operant is positioning its new product as the first purpose-built security gateway for this emerging class of AI-native systems.
Founded by Vrajesh Bhavsar (CEO), Priyanka Tembey (CTO), and Ashley Roof (CMO), both veterans from Apple, VMware, and Google, Operant AI is best known for its AI Gatekeeper platform. The launch of MCP Gateway marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to bring real-time, active-blocking security to AI systems that operate across dynamic, modular architectures.
Closing the Visibility Gap in AI Workflows
While the Model Context Protocol enables powerful new integrations between LLMs and software tools, it also introduces significant risks—including data leakage, prompt injection, and inter-agent spoofing. “Many organizations are deploying these tools without full visibility into their behavior, data access, or usage,” said Bhavsar. “MCP Gateway helps close this gap by providing enhanced security, observability, and control across the MCP ecosystem.”
MCP Gateway includes three key components:
MCP Discovery for live mapping of agent behavior and telemetry,
MCP Detections for advanced monitoring of jailbreaks and unauthorized access,
MCP Defense for real-time protection via access controls, encryption, and redaction.
A Security Layer for the Future of AI Infrastructure
Operant AI is also launching a partner program to integrate MCP Gateway into existing AI infrastructure stacks, supporting cloud deployments across AWS Bedrock, Azure, and Google Vertex AI. “We’re not just securing MCP applications—we’re enabling the entire ecosystem,” said co-founder Ashley Roof.
Backed by Felicis Ventures and SineWave, Operant AI has been recognized by Gartner in its Market Guide for AI Trust, Risk, and Security Management (AI TRiSM). With India’s AI market projected to reach $17 billion by 2027, the company’s timing places it squarely at the intersection of growing demand and urgent security need.
