On the Slopes and On the Rise: Halfdays Grabs $10M in Fresh Powder Funding
Halfdays offers stylish, high-performance ski wear and outdoor apparel focused on comfort, fit, and functionality without the pressures of traditional outdoor culture designed specifically for women.
Halfdays, the women-led outdoor apparel brand making waves in skiwear and beyond, just secured $10 million in Series A funding. The round was led by The Kellwood Company, with participation from DSG Ventures and supermodel-turned-investor Taylor Hill.
Founded by Olympian Kiley McKinnon, CEO Ariana Ferwerda, and Karelle Golda, Halfdays was born from a very real wardrobe frustration: McKinnon’s freestyle skiing career had her competing in men’s gear that simply didn’t fit. The trio set out to create outdoor apparel that didn’t rely on the industry’s outdated “shrink-it-and-pink-it” formula—designing for performance and style from the ground up.
Expanding the Terrain
What started with skiwear has grown into a full trail and activewear offering, available not only direct-to-consumer but now in 150+ retail locations including Nordstrom, REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Sporting Life. The latest funding will help Halfdays deepen its product lines across winter, trail, and everyday performance wear, while also scaling its wholesale business through new partners like Revolve and Shopbop.
The company is also looking to build out brick-and-mortar experiences and continue community-building efforts like hikes, pop-ups, and its Winter Launch Party in Denver.
A Cooler Take on Techwear
Beyond the flattering fits and bold colorways (think “amethyst” and “glazed cherry”), Halfdays integrates performance fabrics like brrr° technology, offering cooling minerals, active wicking, and rapid drying. Each product page even includes fit details, ideal temperature ranges, and sustainability specs—gear that’s as smart as it is stylish.
“We’re excited to keep expanding our product offerings and growing the community of women who want to get outside and feel good doing it,” said CEO Ariana Ferwerda.
With fresh powder on the slopes and fresh capital in the bank, Halfdays is proving there’s plenty of runway left in performancewear—especially when women are leading the charge.
