Vera Secures $2.7 Million to Propel its Mission in Enhancing AI Safety
Vera is the world's first conversational assistant to enforce and automate privacy, security, and fairness policies.
Vera, the pioneering startup co-founded in 2021 by Liz O'Sullivan and Justin Norman, is on a mission to enhance the safety and responsible use of AI technologies. Liz, a member of the National AI Advisory Committee with a background spanning 12 years in AI startups, oversees data labeling, operations, and customer success. In 2019, she transitioned to the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, advocating for civil liberties, and co-founded Arthur AI, which collaborates with civil society and academia to shed light on the inner workings of AI systems.
Now, O'Sullivan is leading Vera, a company that focuses on developing a toolkit for companies to establish and enforce "acceptable use policies" for generative AI models, such as those generating text, images, and music. Vera recently closed a $2.7 million funding round, bringing its total raised to $3.3 million, which will support the growth of Vera's team, research and development efforts, and the expansion of enterprise deployments.
