Founders Everywhere: Harsh Badera
Harsh Badera is the co-founder and CEO of MatBook, a tech-powered platform revolutionizing global construction material procurement by making it faster, smarter, and more cost-effective.
Welcome to Founders Everywhere, where we highlight the incredible people behind the companies we’ve backed at Everywhere Ventures, a global pre-seed fund supported by a community of 500 founders and operators.
Construction powers global growth—building the cities, communities, and economies we live in. But despite its importance, it's still one of the least digitized industries, held back by inefficiencies, outdated methods, and fragmented supply chains. At the heart of these challenges is material procurement, which accounts for nearly 60% of total project costs, driven up further by layers of middlemen and lack of transparency. MatBook is here to change that by offering a seamless, end-to-end solution procurement platform that reimagines how materials are sourced, purchased, and delivered. From browsing products and requesting samples to getting estimates, placing orders, and tracking deliveries in real-time—it's as simple as shopping on Amazon. With AI-driven sourcing and optimized manufacturing, MatBook ensures the best quality at the best prices and empowers businesses of all sizes to build smarter, faster, and more sustainably.
MatBook was born from a clear vision to modernize how construction materials are sourced. CEO Harsh Badera, with years of experience in this industry, saw a massive opportunity to bring efficiency and transparency to one of its most outdated processes. He teamed up with his longtime friends Shubham Sharma (COO), Nasir Hussain (CTO), and Raghav Malhotra (CRO)—operations, tech, and marketplace experts from OfBusiness, a multi-billion dollar B2B construction marketplace.
What inspired the creation of Matbook?
My co-founders and I have a strong background in construction, and we’ve witnessed firsthand the inefficiencies and lack of transparency in the industry, especially when it comes to sourcing materials, which can account for up to 60% of project costs. We started MatBook to solve these problems, offering significant savings and a much smoother, more transparent procurement experience for construction professionals.
What’s MatBook’s North Star?
Our goal is simple: to become the go-to procurement platform for construction companies. We’re transforming a fragmented, outdated industry by simplifying every step—from sourcing materials to after-sales support. With MatBook, customers get a seamless end-to-end experience, giving them more control, better value, and a smarter way to build.
Tell us about some milestones that MatBook has crushed.
We closed a $750k pre-seed round led by Fluent Ventures, Seedstars, and Everywhere Ventures. We’ve proven our concept over the past year and will use these funds to accelerate tech development, grow our team, and expand further into the U.S. market.
Why is MatBook going to win?
We're revolutionizing the supply chain by making it more efficient, transparent, and direct. Traditionally, procurement is bogged down by multiple middlemen, limited access to manufacturers, and long delays. But we've mapped hundreds of manufacturers and cut out the middlemen, allowing us to offer premium quality at the best prices and the shortest lead times. In today's time, where businesses need to diversify their supply chains, we're perfectly positioned to meet that demand and deliver faster, more reliable solutions.
How has your background influenced you as a founder?
I bring a unique mix of construction and tech experience. Having worked on job sites and later at Procore, a leader in construction tech, I’ve seen the challenges firsthand and understand how technology can be the game-changer the industry needs. This blend of real-world experience and tech know-how drives my passion for solving the problems construction faces today.
Any favorite books or podcasts?
I'm a big fan of The Silicon Valley Podcast, How I Built This, The Tim Ferriss Show, and the a16z Podcast—they're my go-to sources for startup insights, founder journeys, and practical productivity tools. When it comes to books, Atomic Habits and The Hard Thing About Hard Things stand out as favorites. Both offer powerful lessons: one on the compounding power of small, consistent improvements, and the other on navigating the gritty realities of scaling a startup—something I resonate with deeply while building MatBook.
Fun Fact:
I once took an unplanned solo trip through Vietnam with just a backpack, no itinerary, and a rule to avoid chain hotels. I ended up couchsurfing, learning bits of Vietnamese, and even attending a local wedding I was randomly invited to. Total “yes theory” energy.
