Founders Everywhere: Georgia Vidler
Georgia Vidler is the co-founder and co-CEO of Human, providing everyone access to personalised healthcare - for a healthier, happier world.
Welcome to Founders Everywhere, where we highlight the incredible people behind the companies we’ve backed at Everywhere Ventures, a global pre-seed fund supported by a community of 500 founders and operators.
Human’s mission is to give everyone access to personalised healthcare. Human aims to speed up the feedback loops between doctors, researchers and patients, drive faster medical breakthroughs and facilitate the development of personalised treatment plans for everyone.
Co-founders and friends Georgia Vidler and Kate Lambridis worked together at Canva and over dinner catching up, they agreed that it’s too difficult to get access to up to date research and information, especially for complex neurological conditions that lack a clear standard of care. They decided to stop moaning and do something about it. Human was founded because they believe to create a healthier, happier world, access to personalised healthcare needs to be democratised. Human just raised the largest ever seed round for an all-female-founded Australian startup. Georgia is the co-founder and co-CEO and told us more about how Human is changing healthcare.
What is Human?
We’re working on summarising the existing research for chronic conditions (starting with neurological conditions), and conducting our own research, via our product. Our ultimate goal is to facilitate personalised treatment plans for everyone (both patients and doctors), for free.
Why did you create Human and why now?
When my co-founder Kate and I first met, we connected over our shared experiences navigating the healthcare systems in different countries - Kate in South Africa and me in Australia. Although we had lived halfway across the world from each other, we realised the general story we’d experienced was the same: what do you do when you or a family member gets diagnosed with a serious health condition? We found that a lot of the journey lies in doing your own research, trying to find doctors or specialists who can help you, doing lots of different tests and in many cases testing lots of interventions - and many people never end up getting the care they need. It is a very broken, expensive and stressful process for patients and caregivers, and technology is not doing much yet to help. It's also very stressful for doctors to keep up with the research and learn what works best for each patient.
We shared a passion for using technology for good, and for bringing our product skills together to solve hard problems in healthcare - through our shared connection and friendship Human was born :)
What makes your product a must-have vs. nice-to-have?
Healthcare is something that is innately personal, however we have almost lost sight of the human side of health, due to the strains on medical systems globally. What makes us a must-have is in the name - Human. We are designing for everyone, and want to understand how we can better serve the human body as a whole. We think the future will be less about labels, and think the only label that should matter is that you’re human.
Given 1 in 2 people globally is living with a chronic health condition (and that number is growing) - having access to the best treatment information possible, and having that tailored to the individual, is going to be absolutely critical to solving this growing global health crisis.
We want to help the world transition to personalised medicine as the norm.
Where do you serve customers?
We are working on a beta product that will initially be available in both the US and Australia, but we will expand quickly after that!
