Grammy Award Winner James Blake Joins Open as Chief Sound Officer to Elevate Mindfulness Experiences
OPEN is a holistic wellness platform that offers both physical and digital experiences, combining movement, breathwork, meditation, and sound to support mental and physical well-being.
Mindfulness platform Open has announced Grammy-winning artist James Blake as its new Chief Sound Officer, marking an innovative fusion of music and wellness. Blake’s first project with Open is the Nervous System Reset, a 21-day guided meditation and breathwork program designed to help users regulate emotions, quiet the mind, and prepare for the new year with immersive soundscapes.
The collaboration highlights Open’s unique focus on integrating music into mindfulness practices. Blake, known for his groundbreaking musical artistry, brings a fresh perspective to Open’s mission. “The vibration of what we listen to is part of what we resonate at,” Blake says. “Curating and creating for this medium is really exciting.” His involvement goes beyond curating soundtracks — it’s about redefining the role of music in mindfulness.
A Fresh Perspective on Mindful Soundscapes
Open’s Nervous System Reset program, launched on December 17, is accessible both on the platform’s app and at its Los Angeles studio. Subscribers can experience guided meditations accompanied by Blake’s custom soundscapes, culminating in an original track titled “See the Unseen”, featured at the end of the program. This integration of music and mindfulness underscores Open’s philosophy of offering life-changing experiences through the power of sound.
“James has a rare perspective that is invaluable to Open in a way that transcends the music we’ll create together,” says Raed Khawaja, Open’s co-founder and CEO. “Our collaboration will raise the frequency of everything we do.”
Blake’s contribution to Open aligns with his history of exploring music’s impact on wellness. His 2022 ambient project Wind Down offered listeners soundscapes designed for relaxation, while his recent single “Like the End” continues his exploration of emotionally resonant music.
Redefining Mindfulness Through Music
What sets Open apart is its seamless blend of mindfulness and music. Unlike conventional wellness apps, Open caters to serious music enthusiasts, creating a multisensory experience that enhances breathwork, movement, and meditation practices.
Open app offers a 30-day free trial, with subscription plans priced at $20 per month or $150 annually. For those in Los Angeles, Open also offers in-person classes at its studio, providing an immersive experience that combines expertly curated soundtracks with mindfulness practices.
With James Blake as its Chief Sound Officer, Open is taking a bold step in reimagining how music can deepen the benefits of mindfulness, offering users a fresh way to reset and recharge for the year ahead.
