Founders Everywhere: Miles Beckett
Miles Beckett is the co-founder and CEO of Flossy, a company delivering industry-leading AI solutions for dental patients, providers and payors.
Welcome to Founders Everywhere, where we highlight the incredible people behind the companies we’ve backed at Everywhere Ventures, a global pre-seed fund supported by a community of 500 founders and operators.
A great experience at the dentist's office involves so much more than just the time spent in the chair. It’s the call to make an appointment, the reminders, the follow-up, and the treatment. Unfortunately, dental practices face numerous inefficiencies, including high staff turnover, unanswered calls, and overwhelming administrative workloads. With up to 35% of calls going unanswered—especially after hours—dental practices miss out on valuable appointments and revenue. Flossy is filling these gaps with their AI voice agent, Fiona, who speaks and thinks like a friendly human dental expert. She helps manage phones, schedule appointments, answer questions, and even triage emergencies for busy dentists. By cutting costs, boosting patient satisfaction, and maximizing bookings, Fiona frees up dental teams to focus on what truly matters—delivering exceptional care.
Miles Beckett is the co-founder and CEO of Flossy. He studied and practiced medicine as a plastic surgeon, until hanging up the stethoscope and transitioning to a career in tech. He’s a serial entrepreneur with successful exits in both digital media and healthcare. Miles met his co-founder Steve Seigel while working together at Miles’ previous company. Steve brings expertise in sales and business development, drawing from his experience as both an operator and investor. They enjoyed their partnership and decided to build Flossy together, as they are both passionate about bringing high-quality, affordable dental care to everyone. They’re determined to simplify the healthcare experience and deliver value for practitioners, patients, and payors.
Why did you create Flossy?
We founded Flossy in 2020 after Steve and I each faced frustrating experiences when trying to find and visit a new dentist. It was a confusing search process with long phone tag loops and multiple visits for treatment. Realizing the dental care system was outdated and in need of innovation, we set out to create a better solution.
What is Flossy’s North Star?
Our North Star is to use AI to make dental care more efficient, accessible, and seamless for everyone involved—practitioners, patients, and payors.
What has been the greatest challenge founding Flossy?
Originally, Flossy started as a marketplace connecting patients with dentists, but we quickly realized how challenging it was to scale a hyper-local model. At the same time, we were becoming increasingly interested in AI, especially after ChatGPT launched. We had built an AI-powered price estimator for our marketplace, and it became clear that AI had the potential to transform the dental industry in a much bigger way. That realization led us to fully pivot Flossy into building AI agents for dental practices, starting with our voice agent, Fiona. Pivoting was definitely the greatest challenge, as it involved laying off staff and securing new funding. These types of decisions are tough, but necessary.
How does Flossy inspire “customer love”?
Customers love our AI agent Fiona and see her as a part of their team. Acting as a virtual receptionist, she handles appointment bookings, rescheduling, cancellations, and procedural inquiries. Users can chat with Fiona in the dashboard, provide feedback, and rate calls, which is then incorporated into the model to improve performance.
Tell us about a recent milestone that Flossy crushed.
Since launching in February, we’ve reached seven-figures in commitments, and that was within just 30 days. We’re also in deep discussions with the largest DSOs in the country, which speaks to the impact of our product. Fiona delivers outstanding results, booking appointments as effectively as a typical receptionist and 4x more than voicemail, which rarely converts callers. This means an immediate ROI as just one extra booking more than pays for the service.
What makes you a unique founder?
I’m a doctor by training with a background in neuroscience, but I’ve always been drawn to technology and creativity. I took an unconventional path—leaving medicine to create YouTube videos, which eventually led to building tech companies in the digital media and healthcare spaces. My experience in emergency and trauma surgery taught me to navigate uncertainty, make quick decisions, and develop a strong work ethic, all essential in startups. Working 90-hour weeks as a surgical intern made me realize that if I was willing to work that hard at something I disliked, I should be just as committed to something I love.
Fun fact:
I really enjoy foiling, which is a water sport where you ride a surfboard with a hydrofoil and electric motor that propels you and lifts you above the surface of the water. It feels a bit like surfing and flying at the same time and is a nice release from the daily grind.
