Flickplay Brings Pac-Man to Life in Tokyo with Web3 Innovation
Flickplay is a gamified platform blending digital collectibles with real-world pop culture experiences.
Flickplay is set to make waves in Tokyo, redefining how audiences interact with digital and physical worlds. In partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and the City of Shibuya, Flickplay will debut an interactive “Pac-Man” experience during the DIG SHIBUYA 2025 Festival from February 8-11. This marks a major milestone for Flickplay, blending Web3 technology with a beloved cultural icon and expanding its platform into Japan.
“This partnership reflects our shared vision of blending beloved cultural icons like Pac-Man with cutting-edge technology to create interactive and memorable experiences,” said Flickplay CEO Pierina Merino. The event will feature two exclusive Pac-Man collectible series, the first inspired by Japanese cultural elements and launching at the festival. Attendees can take part in a scavenger hunt across 40 iconic Shibuya locations, showcasing how Flickplay integrates digital collectibles with real-world exploration to create an immersive experience.
Pac-Man, Shibuya, and Flickplay make the perfect match. Shibuya’s reputation as a global hub for culture and technology makes it the ideal location for Flickplay’s first major international activation. “Shibuya has always stood at the forefront of cultural and technological progress,” said Yoshiro Tasaka, Director of Shibuya Startup Support. “This collaboration offers a glimpse into the future of city entertainment—where physical spaces and digital interactions come together to create unforgettable urban experiences.”
With over 120,000 visitors expected at the festival, the event is set to elevate tourism, commerce, and community connection in Shibuya. Pac-Man’s 45th anniversary provides the perfect backdrop for this blend of nostalgia and innovation, showcasing Flickplay’s ability to connect iconic characters with next-generation technology.
Flickplay’s collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment underscores a shared mission to redefine the way audiences engage with Web3-powered experiences. “We see immense value in Flickplay’s ability to bridge digital and physical worlds,” said Yoyo Yang, Principal at Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund.
By transforming interactions with digital characters and creating opportunities for local economies and global brands alike, Flickplay is at the forefront of merging entertainment with innovative technology. The Tokyo launch represents just the beginning of a journey to connect fans with their favorite cultural icons in new and exciting ways.
As Pac-Man comes to life in Tokyo, Flickplay is paving the way for a new era of digital interaction, blending nostalgia, technology, and community in a groundbreaking activation.
