Elektra Health Expands Insurance Partnerships to Bring Virtual Menopause Care to More Women in New York
Elektra Health provides a comprehensive menopause care platform offering telemedicine consultations with board-certified clinicians, evidence-based educational resources, and 1:1 personalized support.
Elektra Health, the virtual menopause care provider founded by Jannine Versi, is pushing menopause out of the shadows and into mainstream healthcare. The company just announced that its services are now in-network with MetroPlusHealth and Fidelis Care, extending coverage to more than 95% of women across New York State.
For Versi, who launched Elektra in 2019 after helping build Cityblock Health, the mission has always been clear: provide personalized, evidence-based care for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. “We see menopause as an opportunity to take care of women when they are really underserved and there are not enough providers to take care of them,” she told Fierce Healthcare.
Closing a Critical Gap
The urgency of Elektra’s work is clear. As Julie Myers, M.D., deputy chief medical officer at MetroPlusHealth, explained: “Every year in New York City, thousands of women enter menopause. Yet many women with symptoms go undiagnosed, and many wait over a year before their transition is even acknowledged by a provider.” Partnering with Elektra aims to change that, giving women access to specialists trained in menopause care at a critical point in their lives.
Elektra’s approach goes beyond telehealth appointments. Each patient is paired with a clinician, a coach, and a peer community for holistic support. All of Elektra’s clinicians are certified by the Menopause Society, which sets the gold standard in evidence-based care. The company also collaborates with provider groups like Mount Sinai Health Partners and UPMC Magee-Womens Midlife Health Center to ensure that when in-person care is needed, it stays within patients’ insurance networks.
Building Trust Without the Hype
In a crowded women’s health space often cluttered with supplements and “miracle” cures, Elektra has taken a different path. The company doesn’t sell or monetize supplements, a decision Versi says is about trust: “We want our patients to know they can trust the care that is delivered.” Instead, Elektra focuses on surfacing evidence-based information—even about holistic remedies like ashwagandha or melatonin—so patients can make informed decisions without pressure.
That clarity has paid off. With a net promoter score over 90, Elektra reports that 85% of its patients see symptom improvement within nine months, and patients report a 250% increase in feeling educated and supported during menopause in their first year on the platform.
Changing the Narrative Around Menopause
Menopause has long been underserved by the medical system. After hormone therapy was linked to health risks in a single 2000s-era study, prescriptions plummeted and many providers stopped offering menopause-specific care altogether. Even today, medical schools rarely emphasize menopause training, leaving countless women without adequate guidance.
Elektra is rewriting that narrative. With nearly 40 payer partners nationwide—including Aetna, Cigna, Healthfirst, UnitedHealthcare, and Anthem—and plans to expand to more states in 2026, the company is proving that menopause deserves the same visibility and rigor as any other stage of women’s health.
