Cofertility’s Halle Tecco Doesn’t Want to Be Your Infertility Influencer
Cofertility is a human-first fertility ecosystem rewriting the egg freezing and egg donation experience.
A Relentless Advocate for Women’s Health and Innovation
Halle Tecco, the co-founder of Cofertility and a trailblazing force in healthcare innovation, has spent over a decade advocating for women’s health and reshaping the fertility landscape. With ventures like Rock Health, Natalist, and Cofertility, Tecco has not only supported aspiring entrepreneurs but also provided tangible solutions to the challenges faced by women navigating fertility care.
Now, she’s taking a step back from fertility-focused work, turning her energy toward broader healthcare innovation and education. “People expect me to continue that narrative. But I’ve moved on, and I don’t want to continue talking about it,” Tecco told Business Insider. “I’m not trying to be an infertility influencer.”
Building Cofertility: A Vision for Accessible Egg Freezing and Donation
Tecco launched Cofertility in 2022 with a mission to make egg freezing and donation more accessible while tackling stigmas around fertility. Alongside CEO and co-founder Lauren Makler, Tecco remains deeply involved in the company’s strategy and fundraising efforts, ensuring Cofertility stays at the forefront of innovation in assisted reproduction.
“Even having gone through what Halle has gone through, her conviction, effort, and enthusiasm for what we’re doing has never wavered,” Makler said. Tecco’s fertility journey shaped her approach to Cofertility. After enduring 11 miscarriages, including the loss of twins at 17 weeks, and years of secondary infertility, she channeled her experience into building a company that prioritizes empathy, accessibility, and education. While she has since paused fertility treatments, her focus remains on helping others navigate their own paths to parenthood.
A Legacy of Innovation Beyond Fertility
Cofertility is just one chapter in Tecco’s storied career. She co-founded Rock Health in 2010, an accelerator that helped bring fresh ideas and technologies into healthcare. The firm has invested in transformative companies like Waystar, Tempus AI, and Kindbody, setting a high bar for healthcare startups. “I made the promise that I will never be the cranky old guard,” Tecco said. “We need as many smart people helping us solve these problems as possible.”
Now, at 41, Tecco is broadening her focus. She’s writing a book to inspire the next generation of healthcare innovators, teaching courses at Columbia University and Harvard Medical School, and hosting The Heart of Healthcare podcast. Through these ventures, she hopes to share her knowledge and ignite new ideas in a traditionally slow-moving industry. “My goal is that readers close the book, and they’re like, let’s do this,” she said.
Looking Ahead: Balancing Impact and Innovation As a board member for Cofertility, Tecco continues to champion its mission while stepping back from the day-to-day operations. Her decision to shift focus doesn’t diminish her passion for women’s health but underscores her commitment to fostering innovation across all areas of healthcare. “I’m a healthcare investor, not a fertility investor,” she explained. Tecco’s relentless ambition, shaped by personal trials and professional triumphs, has left an indelible mark on the healthcare landscape.
Whether empowering entrepreneurs or reshaping fertility care, her work exemplifies a deep belief in the power of innovation to create meaningful change. As Makler puts it, “If Halle has conviction in something, she does not look back.” With Cofertility thriving and a new book on the horizon, Tecco’s legacy is set to inspire the next wave of healthcare builders.
