Cleancult Hits Costco Shelves Nationwide—Bringing Zero-Waste Cleaning to the Masses
Cleancult offers eco-friendly cleaning products designed to reduce plastic waste through a refillable system.
Sustainable cleaning just took a major leap forward. Clean Cult, the New York–based startup known for ditching single-use plastics in favor of refillable, paper-based packaging, has officially landed in over 300 Costco locations across the U.S.—and on Costco.com. It’s a big win not only for the brand’s retail footprint, but also for anyone trying to clean their home without trashing the planet.
From Niche to Nationwide
Founded with a mission to make cleaning better for both people and the planet, Clean Cult has built its name around plant-based, biodegradable formulas delivered in uniquely sustainable packaging. Until now, its products were mainly found in specialty retailers or online. But with this new nationwide Costco rollout, Clean Cult is going big.
Beginning April 2025, Costco shoppers can pick up the brand’s award-winning All-Purpose Cleaner Variety Pack—recently named Best Multisurface Cleaner in Better Homes & Gardens’ 2024 Clean House Awards. The variety pack features three filled and refillable 20 oz aluminum bottles in fresh scents like Lemon Verbena, Wild Lavender, and Sweet Basil. It’s the first time aluminum bottles have entered the club store cleaning category.
Clean Cult’s laundry collection is also now available on Costco.com, expanding its reach beyond the aisle and into digital carts nationwide.
A Retailer-Backed Sustainability Play
Costco’s bulk-buying model has long appealed to environmentally conscious shoppers looking to reduce waste, and Clean Cult’s presence in stores is a natural extension of that ethos. It also speaks to a larger shift: 3 in 4 Americans say they’re concerned about plastic pollution, and most support policies and companies that reduce single-use plastics. Yet options at the retail level have lagged behind—until now.
By offering refillable aluminum bottles and paper-based carton refills, Clean Cult is setting a new standard for sustainable packaging in an industry historically dominated by plastic jugs and disposable spray bottles.
“Sustainability and affordability are not mutually exclusive,” said Clean Cult CEO Ryan Lupberger. “Launching in Costco proves we can offer a zero-waste solution that works at scale—for the planet and for families on a budget.”
What’s Next for Clean Cult?
This Costco launch marks a major step in Clean Cult’s expansion—but it’s just the beginning. As more retailers and shoppers seek out better-for-you and better-for-the-planet alternatives, Clean Cult is positioning itself as the go-to brand for sustainable home care that doesn’t sacrifice efficacy, convenience, or cost.
With a mission to eliminate single-use plastic from the cleaning aisle, Clean Cult isn’t just cleaning homes—it’s cleaning up the industry. One refillable bottle at a time.
