Founders Everywhere: Jorge Risquez
Jorge Risquez is the co-founder & CEO of bops, an end-to-end customer supply chain collaboration platform helping CPG suppliers and retailers reduce out-of-stocks and overstocks at the shelf.
Welcome to Founders Everywhere, where we highlight the incredible people behind the companies we’ve backed at Everywhere Ventures, a global pre-seed fund supported by a community of 500 founders and operators.
Out-of-stocks and overstocks cost the global retail industry $1.73 trillion each year, frustrating consumers and draining revenue for CPG suppliers and retailers. Despite the global retail industry spending $172 billion last year on improvements, the problem persists. Supply chains are complex and managing inventory across thousands of stores and millions of products is still incredibly difficult. Fortunately, bops solves this by providing an end-to-end customer supply chain collaboration platform that connects CPG suppliers and retailers. It starts at the shelf, both in-store and online, and works backward, providing clear, real-time visibility into inventory and consumer demand, plus workflows that help teams to go from insight to action. The result: less waste, more cash freed up, and products consistently available on the shelves when and where consumers want them.
Co-founder and CEO Jorge Risquez is a seasoned supply chain and operations expert, having spent years as a Retail-CPG consultant at Deloitte and implementing large-scale supply chain planning systems such as SAP, Kinaxis, and o9 for major CPG suppliers and retailers. After a few attempts at looking for a co-founder, he met Domingo Noriega through a connection via his sister. Domingo is an accomplished data engineer who previously helped Yext scale their operations. Together, they spent months prototyping before they joined an accelerator and raised pre-seed funding, with initial support from former Deloitte colleagues. Jorge shares more about how they're reducing out-of-stocks and overstocks for CPG suppliers and retailers through better supply chain collaboration.
Why bops and why now?
I started bops—short for “business operators”—after years as a supply chain consultant. I was frustrated seeing large CPG suppliers such as Tyson Foods and Pepsi still struggle with out-of-stocks and overstocks despite investing in expensive supply chain planning systems. I realized the value chain was broken: processes weren’t standardized, collaboration was limited, and data wasn’t effectively driving decisions. Bops solves this by providing an end-to-end customer supply chain collaboration platform with simple inventory workflows that help improve on-shelf availability to increase sales, reduce waste, and make consumers happy. The timing felt right because technology has finally matured to tackle this $1.7 trillion problem effectively.
What’s bops’ North Star?
We aim to make the Retail-CPG value chain more collaborative, efficient, and sustainable by connecting inventory from stores all the way through distribution centers. Many CPG suppliers and retailers operate in silos when it comes to synchronizing inventory with consumer demand, and our goal is to connect the entire value chain to increase sales, reduce waste, and inefficiencies. While our focus is currently on Retail-CPG, we’re ambitious about expanding into other verticals, including healthcare, foodservice, and over-the-counter products.
What sets bops apart?
We’re creating a new category: E2E Customer Supply Chain Collaboration between CPGs and Retailers. No one else is synchronizing data and processes from shelf to distribution center at scale. Bops fills this gap, ensuring products are available when consumers need them. We complement, not replace, existing supply chain planning systems, and are already being validated by major consulting partners and enterprise customers such as Duracell.
How does bops inspire “customer love”?
We help customers grow revenue by capturing sales otherwise lost to out-of-stocks, improving margins by reducing excess inventory, and increasing team productivity across the organization. Our users (sales + customer supply chain teams) love the platform because it delivers actionable insights and removes the need for giant, error-prone spreadsheets. By simplifying decision-making across thousands of stores and millions of items, the platform empowers users to act faster, make smarter inventory decisions, and see tangible results, creating real excitement and loyalty.
