August CEO Nadia Okamoto Named Among WWD’s 30 Most Impactful Women Under 30 in Beauty and Wellness
August offers a customizable subscription service for period care products, including pads, tampons, and liners, made from sustainable and non-toxic materials.
WWD has named Nadya Okamoto, CEO and cofounder of August, to its 30 Most Impactful Women Under 30 Across Beauty and Wellness list, spotlighting her leadership in menstrual health and advocacy. Okamoto founded August in 2021 as a gender-inclusive, sustainable period care brand and has been a leading voice in destigmatizing menstruation and tackling systemic inequities like the tampon tax. Before August, she launched the nonprofit Period at just 16, sparking a global movement for menstrual equity.
The WWD list also recognizes some of the most influential young women shaping today’s beauty and wellness industries. Among them are Hailey Bieber, whose skincare brand Rhode was acquired by E.l.f. for $1 billion; Bella Hadid, who expanded her wellness portfolio with fragrance line Ôrebella; Taylor Frankel, cofounder of Nudestix; and Olamide Olowe, founder of Topicals, who became the youngest Black woman to raise $10 million in venture funding. Other honorees include Alix Earle, Monet McMichael, and Pritika Swarup, each bringing fresh perspectives to digital influence and brand-building.
Amid this powerhouse lineup, Nadya’s recognition stands out for redefining how society engages with period care, not just as a consumer product but as an essential component of equity and wellbeing. Her inclusion underscores that the future of beauty and wellness isn’t only about aesthetics, but about access, dignity, and social change.
